WAKEFIELD — Jean Grace Phillips Allerton Burdick, 92, passed away on Sept. 23, 2017, in her home.

Mrs. Burdick was a native of Newport News, and was a daughter of the late Jesse Lee Phillips Sr. and Joella Blanche Surles Phillips.
Mrs. Burdick was a graduate of Newport News High School, and was a former employee of the Daily Press, and was a former horticulturist.
Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Joella Allerton Wein, Cindy Carter and Danielle Edington; one son Samuel Allerton Jr.; seven grandchildren, Michelle Talley, Amanda Whitaker, Devin and Danton Wein, Jessica and Justin Edington and Colton Allerton.
