This year’s inductees include Ophelia Taylor, Thurmon Overton and Geraldine Odom.

Organized to serve as an advocate for cancer survivors, the mission of Pink Is Powerful is to educate, encourage and empower individuals before and during their journey with cancer.

The first gala, sponsored by the Empowerment and Uplifting Foundation, was in 2012. The donations from the events enable the group to assist individuals with gas money to get to and from appointments; send birthday, get well and sympathy cards to individuals during moments of joy and disparity; provide financial aid to help with funerals; and support other needs of group members.

Monthly meetings feature motivational speakers, brunch, roundtable discussions, door prizes, etc.

The sole purpose is to uplift the survivors and provide whatever assistance it can.

Contributions are welcome by the non-profit, which is working on becoming a 501(c)(3) organization. Make your check payable to: Pink Is Powerful CSG, P.O. Box 401; Franklin, VA 23851.
