FRANKLIN
Residents of Franklin will soon have a new option when in need of healthcare. A MedExpress Urgent Care facility is due to open on Armory Drive in mid-October.

The center will be located at 1330 Armory Drive in the Southampton Shopping Center. An open house has been scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 10, from 5 to 7 p.m., with the center open for patients starting on Wednesday, Oct. 11.

“As a market with limited healthcare options, we thought the Franklin community would appreciate the ability to access healthcare close to home,” said Ellen Detrick, a spokeswoman for MedExpress, as to why the city was chosen as their new site.

“We hope Franklin patients value the convenience of the center and the ability to connect directly to a physician with the help and support of a MedExpress nurse on site. We’re committed to increasing access to high-quality, affordable healthcare and our Franklin center is our next step in making it easier than ever for local patients to get the care they need.”

Detrick said that while life-threatening conditions such as chest pains will still require a trip to the emergency room, the center will be able to treat most everyday illnesses and injuries, including colds, flu, infections, breaks, sprains, cuts, X-rays and IVs. The center will also provide basic wellness and prevention services such as immunizations and medical evaluations.

The center expects to hire between 10 to 12 employees initially, including customer service representatives, X-ray technologists, registered nurses and remote physicians.

“As we treat more patients, we’ll continue adding to our team so we can keep our focus on exceeding the expectations of each and every patient,” Detrick said.

She added that the center will also focus on quality care that is affordable. As such, it will accept most major insurances to help patients avoid out-of-network costs and will also offer affordable pricing to those without insurance.
