To the Editor:
Recently, Southampton Social Services asked for help with a toothpaste drive to assist children starting out the new school year. Your thoughtfulness made this drive an overwhelming success.

Our goal was to acquire 500 tubes of family-size toothpaste. This would enable us to provide for each child who received school supplies. It also allowed us to plan to provide our senior adults with toothpaste in their Thanksgiving food bags.

Not only were we able to meet these goals, we now can distribute the remaining donations through our Christmas Program as well as one of our Mobile Food Distributions.

Your donations allow us to provide toothpaste for 1,165 families. Each person in those families will also receive a new toothbrush.

Our challenge to you is to think of some small item that most of us take for granted and provide that item for a family less fortunate. If you have ideas and would like to partner with us on a project, please contact me at 653-3121.
