‘Rockin’’ benefit dinner for family planned

Friends of Sandy Hushour Robertson, who is battling cancer, and her family are planning a “Rockin’ Benefit Dinner” on their behalf. The event will be on Saturday, Sept. 30, in the Holland Community House, 6807 Netherland Drive, Suffolk.

The meal will be provided by Leon Nixon’s Catering from Edenton, North Carolina. Featured will be Carolina-style barbecue, fried chicken, baked beans, cole slaw and hush puppies. Tickets are $10 per plate, and take-out is available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dining in or carry out will be from 4 to 7 p.m.

Music will be provided by Blackwater Jam, Clayton “Tootie” Harris and Luke Willette and The Country Review will perform from 5 to 11 p.m.

With a food ticket, a $5 donation will be requested; $10 without the ticket. BYOB permitted inside the setting. Tickets are available at Fred’s Restaurant, The Farmer’s Daughter Cafe, Nansemond River Golf Club, Roy and Ricky’s Catering, Farmer’s Hardware and Farmer Frank’s Farm Market.
