Nottoway Tribe to host powwow

SURRY
The 10th annual Nottoway Indian Tribe of Virginia will have its powwow on Saturday, Sept. 16 and Sunday, Sept. 17, at the Surry Parks and Recreation, 205 Enos Farm Drive in Surry County.

The family-friendly event features intertribal dancing, storytelling, educational exhibits, crafts, vendors, cooking and demonstrations of primitive weapons.

The event is sponsored by the Virginia Nottoway Indian Circle and Square Foundation and the Surry County Parks and Recreation.

Admission is $5 for adults; $3 for seniors 65 and older; free for children 12 and under with a paying adult. Camping is available.

The gates open at 10 a.m. both days, with the grand entry at noon and 1 p.m. respectively.
