On Thursday night, both the JV and Varsity Lady Indians Volleyball team defeated Greensville in straight sets. The JV scores were 25-11 and 25-11. The varsity scores were 25-10, 25-13, and 25-6.

Some standouts from the JV game include: Shea Lindsey had 2 aces and 3 kills; Mallory Francis had 2 aces and 9 kills; and Kinna Magette had 2 aces, 14 assists and 1 kill.

Some standouts from Varsity include: Madison Wright with 1 ace and 7 kills; Jamey Bunn with 6 kills and 14 assists; Ashly Edwards with 4 aces, 5 kills and 17 assists; and Emma Drake had 3 aces and 14 kills.

I was pleased with our play. Greensville has given us some trouble in the past with their unconventional defense. We prepared for the ball coming back to us on one or two hits and adjusted well. We are off to an excellent start going into our big game this Tuesday against Park View.

Junior Jacey Bunn said, “Coming off a great win against Windsor, we were eager to get back on the court and fight for another win.

“With new plays and great communication we brought home our fourth win of the season. After tonight’s game, we couldn’t be more ready to take on Park View Tuesday.”

Senior Hilary Newlon added, “Even thought it wasn’t a huge competition, we still had a great game and good team bonding.”

The JV Lady Indians are 2-0 and the Varsity is 4-0. The girls have a busy weekend with practice and our annual Captain Bob’s fundraiser in Franklin on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Century 21. We will be selling extra plates. Our next match we travel to Park View in South Hill to face our biggest rivals, the Lady Dragons, and return home for a varsity only match on Thursday. Play begins at 5:30 p.m.
