FRANKLIN
The Franklin paper mill is accepting funding requests for the International Paper Foundation’s 2017 grant cycle. Through Friday, Sept. 22, schools, municipalities and nonprofit organizations in Franklin, Isle of Wight County, Southampton County, and Gates, North Carolina, are invited to visit www.ipgiving.com to complete and submit an online application.

For consideration, the request must be aligned with at least one of International Paper’s primary focus areas, including education and literacy, hunger and nutrition, health and wellness, disaster relief, critical community needs, employee involvement and environmental initiatives.

“International Paper embraces opportunities that allow us to mobilize our people, products and resources to address critical needs in the communities where we live and work,” said Jenny Dixon, communications manager for the Franklin mill.

The IP Foundation provides grants to nonprofit charitable organizations classified under Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Service Code. As such, organizations must be classified as public charities under IRS code section 509(a)(1), (2) or (3) or exempt operating foundations. International Paper does not support private foundations.

Certain municipal, county, state and federal entities such as a school district or fire department are eligible if a fiscal conduit letter from an affiliated tax-exempt organization such as the school district or municipality, is attached to the online application. The letter must state that the affiliated tax-exempt organization will disperse Foundation funds for use on the approved project as the Foundation directs.

The International Paper Foundation is the philanthropic arm of International Paper. Since its inception in 1952, it has provided millions in grants to nonprofit organizations.

Applications for grants may be filed at www.internationalpaper.com/company/regions/north-america/ip-foundation-usa. For more information, call Dixon at 569-4709 or email jennifer.railey@ipaper.com.
