SA Raiders run over Bethel Trojans

COURTLAND
By the end of the first half on Friday, the Southampton Raiders already had a 32-0 lead over the visiting Bethel Trojans of Kinston, North Carolina. The home team would go on to score 40-8, with the visitors making only eight points for the night in the second half.
Coach Dale Marks detailed the play:
The first touchdown came within the first quarter when the Raiders’ senior Sam Rose threw a 51-yard pass to junior Josh Smiley. This was followed by a 2-point conversion by senior Caleb Kidd, who scored on a run.
Next goal was from a one-yard run by Rose, followed by the conversion pass from Rose to Kidd, making the score 16-0.
In the second quarter, the third touchdown came from a 4-yard pass by Kidd, followed with a conversion run by Rose.
A 53-yard pass from Rose to senior Ian Mizelle produced the fourth touchdown, with a conversion run by Kidd, bringing the score 32-0 by the end of the half.
“I’ll hate to see them go,” Marks said about the aforementioned players.
The fifth touchdown took place during the third quarter on a 7-yard run by junior Ricky Evans. The conversion pass was from Rose to Mizelle to make the score 40-0.
The Trojans’ only touchdown was on a 45-yard punt return by Cody Dunk, with a 2-point run by Sincere McDonald.
A few stats that the coach shared:
• Rose, who was the lead rusher, made eight attempts for 126 yards for one score.
• He threw for three of five on 129 yards in two scores.
• Mizelle, who was the lead receiver, had two receptions for 28 yards for one score.
The next game won’t be until Sept. 8 when the Raiders host Community Christian at 7 p.m. on Pillow Field.
