When Parkinson’s Disease is diagnosed, it is frequently on the basis of motor symptoms (e.g., tremor, rigidity, slow movements, impaired balance). Non-motor symptoms (e.g.. depression, memory loss, psychosis) are common to other conditions and are frequently overlooked as  symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.

Parkinson’s patients, caregivers, and family members have a rare opportunity to learn more about these non-motor symptoms. Keith L Hull, MD, cofounder of Raleigh Neurology Associates, Raleigh, North Carolina, will present the program at the Sept. 19 meeting of the Franklin, Isle of Wight and Southampton County Parkinson’s Support Group, rescheduled from June. Hull completed his BA in Biophysics at Johns Hopkins University, medical school, a residency in neurology and a fellowship in neuromuscular diseases at Duke University.

Hull will speak on the topic: “Parkinson’s Disease: Beyond Motor Issues.” The meeting will be in the auditorium of East Pavilion, 100 Fairview Drive, Franklin; enter the building from the North High Street side and go to the auditorium in the basement. A complimentary dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Hull will begin speaking at about 6:30 p.m.
