Dalton McGowan “Buddy” Sheppard Jr., 61, passed away on Aug. 15, 2017, in his home.
Buddy was born in Norfolk, and was a retired staff sergeant after 20 years of service in the Army and served in the Operation Desert Storm campaign.
After his retirement, Buddy was a security officer for Atlantic Protection Service at Norfolk International Airport.
Buddy was a 1975 graduate of Great Bridge High School and a longtime member and vice president of Franklin Hunt Club.
He was predeceased by his mother, Agnes MacDonald Sheppard.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Donna Smith Sheppard; his father, Dalton Sheppard Sr.; four sons, Jason, Brian and Shawn Sheppard and Tony Tart Jr.; two daughters, Ava Lee Hearld and Arah Tart; two sisters, Paula Gigilo and Donna Wyman; four brothers, Donald Sheppard and his wife, Karen; Jerry Sheppard, Lyle and George Wyman; 12 grandchildren; and two uncles, Jimmy and Ray Jackson.
A gathering of family and friends will be on Thursday, Aug. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home, 206 West 4th Ave., Franklin.
