MARTINSVILLE — William S. Belcher Sr., 85, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 13, in his home.

Mr. Belcher was born on April 4, 1932, in Ridgeway, Virginia, to the late William Henry Belcher and Victoria Lawrence Belcher. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Wray Deal Belcher; brothers, James, Lynwood, Russell and Henry Belcher; and sisters, Sallie B. Powell and Margaret B. Hurd.

Sam was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Mr. Belcher is survived by two sons, William S. Belcher Jr. (Cathy) of Franklin, Virginia; and Ronald S. Belcher (Kim) of Martinsville; grandchildren, William Scott Belcher (Lisa), Matthew Hayes Belcher (Janae), Kristen Shea Belcher and Andrew Steven Belcher; great-grandchildren, Chandler, Meredith, Hayes, Harper and Riley; special friend and caregiver, Linda Ellis.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15, in Hillcrest Baptist Church, Ridgeway, with Pastor Doug Ramsey officiating. Visitation will be from 11:30 to 1 p.m. in the church prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park, Martinsville.
