Virginia H. Yount

DREWRYVILLE — Virginia Harris Yount, 96, widow of John Baines Yount, passed away on Aug. 5, 2017.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, and reared in Drewryville, she was the daughter of the late George Hendricks and Marian Rose Watson Harris.
Mrs. Yount served with the American Red Cross for 20 years, and was a postal clerk for the Drewryville and Capron post offices.
She was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Harris, and a brother, George “Bud” Harris.
She was a member of Drewryville United Methodist Church, and very active in the Drewryville community.
Left to cherish her memory are two nephews, Hunt H. Harris of Woodville, Virginia, and George H. “Hank” Harris IV (Irene) of Alexandria; and a sister-in-law, Mary Lee Lawson Harris of Virginia Beach.
The graveside memorial service will be on Friday, Aug. 25, at noon, in Drewryville Town Cemetery with Pastor David Everett officiating.
The reception will follow in the Drewryville Baptist Church, and the family suggests memorials be made to Drewryville UMC or to the Drewryville Fire Department.
