A Courtland family has been temporarily displaced from their home due to a kitchen fire that occurred Thursday, Aug. 3. Courtland Volunteer Fire Department units were dispatched to the 20200 block of Ivor Road at approximately 9:02 p.m. and arrived on the scene at 9:08 p.m.

Unit E42 was the first to arrive at the scene.

According to information posted on the CVFD’s Facebook page, firefighters observed smoke coming from the side of a single-story brick ranch house and determined that it was coming from the kitchen.

They successfully extinguished the fire and ventilated the house. However, the family will be unable to return to their home until the fire and smoke damage is repaired. One occupant was assessed by EMS but did not require transport. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains unknown to The Tidewater News. Additional details will be released as they are discovered.
