FHS 4 X 100 Relay Team consists of Keshawn Waters, LaSean Nichols-Porter, Darius Eley and Kendall Eley. They placed first at the Dinwiddie High School All-Comers Meet on Saturday.

This was an open meet for all ages and genders. Kendall Eley and LaSean Nichols-Porter also placed second in the Long Jump & Shot Put, respectively. Keshawn Waters and Darius Eley placed third in the Shot Put. Keshawn Waters placed third in the Long Jump.

Dennis Sumblin, who has been their coach, said he had trained them starting when they were seventh and eighth graders.

“They ran pretty good,” he said on Monday of the rising freshmen at Franklin High School who participated in last weekend’s competition.

Sumblin himself said he was also a track athlete for the Broncos, and had competed against Les Young, who is the coach at Dinwiddie.

This was not the first such victory for him. The track team won the 100 and 200 relays in 2014, and went on to state finals in the 4 X 100 in 2016.
