IVOR — Jeffrey David Holt, 33, passed away on July 31, 2017, in Sentara Obici Hospital.
Jeffrey was born on Jan. 25, 1984, at RAF Lakenheath England. He was a 2003 graduate of Southampton Academy and a graduate of Tidewater Regional Fire Academy Class 116. Jeffrey was a firefighter medic for the city of Hampton and, more recently, with the Newport News Shipyard. He was a volunteer for Courtland, Ivor and Franklin fire departments prior to becoming a career firefighter.
He was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a member of the Ivor Hunt Club.
Jeffrey had an infectious smile and a great sense of humor and was an excellent father and husband.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kay Holt; a daughter, Peyton Belle Holt; a son, Jacob David “Jake” Holt; his parents, Vince and Connie Holt; a sister, April (Kevin) Boyce; a brother, Michael Holt; nieces and nephews, Olivia and Dakota Holt and Jackson and Sawyer Boyce; maternal grandmother, Margaret DeLoatch Gayle; paternal grandmother, Doris Blythe Holt; father and mother-in-law, Jeffrey and Terry Pulley; sister-in-law, Alison Pulley; and a host of friends and fellow firefighters.
Jeffrey was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, David Mahlon DeLoatch; and paternal grandfather, Fenton Bryant Holt.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 6, in the Franklin Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Charles Qualls and Rev. Steve Gibson officiating. Burial with fireman honors will be in the Pulley Family Cemetery on Doles Road in Ivor.
The family will receive friends at the residence, and suggests that memorial donations be made to your local fire department.
