Real Country 101.7 has announced the addition of Dave West to their on-air lineup. Starting Tuesday, West can be heard weekday afternoons from 2 to 7 p.m. and every Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to noon.
West will also serve as the station’s traffic coordinator. He joined Real Country 101.7 from Country 102.9 in Southern Maryland, where he served as morning show host, program director and music director.
West said his dream was always to pursue a career in radio broadcasting. He started in 1981 at an “all hits” station in Silsbee, Texas, and moved on to do stints at radio stations in Houston, Dallas and other cities around the country.
He and his wife of 32 years, Rhonda, have two boys, Michael and Matthew. In his free time, he enjoys flying drones, riding his bicycle and catching up on his “honey do’s.” He attributes all his successes and blessings to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
“I am truly honored about the opportunity to work alongside the talented and dedicated team at Real Country,” West said. “I’m excited about quickly becoming part of the Western Tidewater community.”
“We are thrilled to have Dave West joining the team at Real Country 101.7,” said station Vice President and General Manager Michael Clark. “Dave brings a tremendous amount of on-air and programming experience to our station. His energy and enthusiasm for local radio will be evident from the very start.
This programming addition furthers our commitment to live and local programming, giving our listeners and advertising partners one of the best non-metro stations in Virginia.”
Franklin Broadcasting Corporation, the parent company of Real Country 101.7, is a third-generation, locally owned and operated broadcast company, located on North Franklin Street in downtown Franklin. The Clark family has operated stations in the Franklin-Suffolk market since 1956.
