The pilot of a single-engine plane was not hurt after having to land on the grass instead of the runaway on Monday afternoon. This information comes from Sgt. Michelle Anaya, spokeswoman for the Virginia State Police.
She stated on Tuesday morning that the pilot, Donald Wayne Miller of Chiefland, Florida, was attempting to land his Pipler PA-460 350 Fixed Wing at the Beverly Rose Municipal Airport at approximately at 2 p.m.
At that time, a deer reportedly came onto the runway causing Miller “to steer onto the soft grass and the landing gear gave way causing the nose of the plane came into contact with the ground. FAA was notified.”
