What started as an argument on Tuesday has led to a Franklin man being arrested for burglary and assault hours later. This information comes from Capt. Tim Whitt, spokesman for the Franklin Police Department.
Gregory Lorenzo Diggs, 31, had reportedly been arguing with another man earlier that evening. After that person left and went home, Diggs went to his house in the 1800 block of Rosewood Avenue.
He allegedly entered and assaulted the person with whom he had been arguing.
Diggs left, but later returned and attempted to force his way back into the residence.
The occupants inside were able to block the door and keep him out.
Upon hearing officers responding at approximately 12:43 a.m., Diggs fled the area.
He was later taken into custody after a traffic stop of a vehicle he was riding in. Diggs, who lives at 319 Pearl St., was charged with two counts of burglary and one count of assault and battery, he was remanded to Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond.
