Route 460 shut down due to crash with injuries

WINDSOR
The Virginia State Police are currently investigating a motor vehicle crash with injuries at the 13000 block of Route 460, westbound, in Windsor. Police were alerted to the incident at approximately 9:11 a.m. on Thursday, July 27.

This information comes from Sgt. Michelle Anaya, spokeswoman for the Virginia State Police. The exact number of injured subjects has not yet been released.

As of 10 a.m., all lanes of Route 460 had been shut down to allow for a Nightingale and second medevac helicopter to land and transport the injured subjects. All lanes were reopened by 11:39 a.m.

According to Anaya, the driver of a Nissan sedan was attempting to make a left turn when a tractor trailer struck it from behind. The driver of the Nissan, a male, and his passenger, a female, suffered major injuries and were flown from the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer, Edward Stith of Freeman, Virginia, was not injured.

Stith was charged with reckless driving. The accident is still under investigation.
