WINDSOR
Maintaining their tradition of service to the community, the Windsor Ruritans bestowed scholarships to two high school graduates on Tuesday evening.

The recipients were Brett H. Bradshaw of Isle of Wight Academy, and Lauren A. McKeel of Windsor High School.

The Charger said he’s going to attend East Carolina University, and plans to major in construction management. Bradshaw is the son of James and Yvonne Bradshaw.

The Duke said she’s going to attend Christopher Newport University, and intends to study accounting. McKeel is the daughter of Duane Faircloth and Connie McKeel.

Each received $1,000 from the club, which was represented by Bentley Richardson, a member of its Social Development Committee.

Money comes from the Ruritans’ pork chop dinner in March, the pig pickin’ in May and the ham and chicken supper in November; a gun raffle will also be included with the latter event.

In addition to helping young scholars, the club also contributes to the Boy Scouts as well as Boys State and Girls State.
