A North Carolina woman has been arrested following indictment on numerous charges related to a crash last September that killed her 3-year-old son. According to a press release from the City of Suffolk, the family of the deceased resides in Franklin.
Tayler Symoine Scott, 21, of Raeford, is charged with cruelty and injuries to children, reckless — improper brakes, improper passing on double solid line and no driver’s license.
The crash happened at 2:11 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11, on the Route 58 bypass. Scott’s car, a Toyota passenger vehicle, was traveling eastbound near the Wilroy Road exit when it lost control, went over the grass median and collided with a Mazda minivan that was traveling westbound, according to a city press release from the day of the crash.
Four occupants of the Mazda minivan, from Cary, North Carolina, were treated and released from Sentara Obici Hospital.
The young boy was pronounced dead at the scene. Scott was hospitalized at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries following the crash.
