By virtue of their runner-up finish in the PONY sectional tournament this past weekend, the Southampton-Sussex Mustang all-star team has earned a trip to the regional championships, which begin on Thursday in Suffolk.

S-S defeated Great Neck 10-3, and Southern Chesapeake 21-0, in their first two games before dropping a nail biter to Greenbrier 4-3. They bounced back with a 9-5 victory over Great Neck to earn a rematch with Greenbrier in the championship game, but fell short in an 8-4 loss.

S-S and Greenbrier both advance to the regional tournament, where S-S will face the team from Winter Park, NC. Greenbrier will face Henry County in their opener. Unlike the previous two rounds of tournament play, the regional tournament is winner take all, with only the top team advancing on to the zone championships the following week in Richmond.
