Events on Church and Duke streets will include music by “Island Boy” from 6 to 9:30 p.m., an antique car show and awards from 5 to 8 p.m., children’s inflatables and activities from 5 to 7:30 p.m., a children’s patriotic parade starting at Windsor High School at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. and fireworks at dark. Attendees are asked to bring a dessert to share and to bring a chair or towel. The timing of events may be moved up if inclement weather is approaching. No pets allowed.

  • Newsoms: A celebration for July 4th will be held on that day in Newsoms beginning with a parade lining up at the Newsoms Baptist Church between 4 and 4:30 p.m. The parade begins at 5 o’clock. It will travel down South Main Street; go past the Methodist Church, cross the railroad track onto North Main. The parade will then turn around at the intersection of North Main and General Thomas Highway.

Spectators will get to see it twice as the parade will follow the same route on the return trip.

Free hot dogs, chips, corn on the cob, watermelon, desserts and drinks will be served behind the Ruritan Building following the parade. Donations will be accepted. The Shiloh Band will perform for people to enjoy their music while eating. Bring a lawn chair.

There will be games for the children to enjoy. At approximately 8 p.m. an old-timer’s softball game will take place on the Newsoms ball field, so bring your gloves and enjoy playing ball again this year.

Sponsors are the Newsoms Ruritan Club and Town of Newsoms.
