FRANKLIN — Mrs. Sylvia P. Brown of Oak Street was summoned by God to claim her eternal rest and peace on June 28, 2017, while a patient in Southampton Memorial Hospital.

She was born on May 17, 1941, in Southampton County to the late James and Emma White Perry.

Sylvia was employed with Rite Aid Drug Store in 1967, there she remained until retirement in 2004.

She was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, Buckhorn in Suffolk, where she served on the Usher Board.

She is survived by her husband, William T. Brown; three daughters, Catherine Jordan (James), Shelia Baker AND Sharon Stegall (Roger); one son, Antonio L. Brown (Marlene); 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

On the day of service, Sylvia’s remains will rest in church for viewing by 10 a.m.

The service celebrating her life will be at noon on Monday, July 3, in Piney Grove Baptist Church, 4901 Deer Path Road, Suffolk, with the pastor, Rev. Larry J. Parker, delivering the eulogy. The committal and benediction will be held in the church cemetery.

A traditional service with dignity will be conducted by Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, Inc., 224 S. Main St.
