The Southampton County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a suspect in connection with the burglary of Griggs Lawn and Tractor in Courtland.
According to Lt. Camden Cobb, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the business, located in the 28000 block of Southampton Parkway, on June 22 at approximately 3:13 a.m. for an alarm. When they arrived on scene, they observed that a large section of glass on the front of the building was broken and determined that the suspect had driven a pickup truck backward and collided with the building, breaking the glass in the process.
The suspect then entered the building on foot and stole multiple Echo brand chainsaws and string trimmers.
The vehicle used in the crime has been determined to have been stolen from a business in Murfreesboro, North Carolina earlier that morning. Investigators with the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office and Murfreesboro Police Department have been working together to solve both crimes and are asking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.
Anyone with information on either crime or who knows the suspect seen in the photo provided is asked to call the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office at 653-2100 or the Murfreesboro Police Department at 252-398-4151.
