Girl Scouts of Troop 5100, which belongs to Service Unit 320, have earned their Bronze Award; that’s the highest honor they can achieve at the Junior level, which is at the fourth and fifth grade levels.
According to troop leader Rachell Grassman, for their project the girls asked college students they knew what they would have wanted before heading to school.
Kinlly Olson, Gabby Outlaw, Laney Phillips, Atejah Robinson, Serenity Sprague and Chelsea Turner raised money by asking for donations at locations such as Dollar Tree and Family Dollar stores. That money went to buy 68 laundry baskets and supplies; 60 went to college-bound graduates of Franklin High School, and the remainder to those going into military service.
The Bronze awards were presented during a ceremony on June 12.
