FRANKLIN
A Franklin teen was arrested Sunday on charges of abduction, brandishing a firearm and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony following the Franklin Police Department’s two-week investigation into two separate incidents of bullying.
According to Capt. Tim Whitt, spokesman for the Franklin Police Department, the first incident occurred on June 4 when a juvenile was allegedly intimidated and had his freedom restricted by the suspect, who was armed. The second occurred on June 16 when officers were alerted to an incident at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center at Oak Street in Franklin in which an adult was allegedly intimidating juveniles on the basketball court while armed with a BB pistol.
The investigation led officers to obtain warrants for the arrest of Jaquan Antonio Garris, 19, of the 300 block of Edwards Street. On Sunday, Garris was taken into custody and charged. He has been remanded to the Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond.
