Former Bronco football star continues to shine

JaVonte’ Blacknall, a former All-Star football player at Franklin High School, continues to enjoy the game by playing with the Capital City Reapers, based in Richmond.

The team is one of many that participate in the game, albeit played indoors. This Saturday, Blacknall and his teammates, led by head coach and team president Reginald B. Shipp Sr., will play in the Mid-Atlantic Indoor Football League Championship on Saturday, June 17. The venue is at 2300 Oak Lake Blvd.,Midlothian. Tickets are $15 for adults; $5 for children.

According to the website, the Reapers are Southern Conference champions, and will face off against the Maryland Eagles.

During half-time, the the local Create Bliss Dance Company will perform along with Studio 4 Dance Company.

Shipp said Blacknall has messaged him via Facebook seeking a tryout.

“I liked what I saw,” the coach said. “The rest is history.”

Blacknall is is the son of Joyce DeLoatch and grandson Gladys Barham.
