FRANKLIN — Mother Marie Jones of South Street was summoned to be with the Lord on June 12, 2017.

She was born in Branchville, Virginia, on March 14, 1936, to the late Phillip and Missouria Powell Jones.

Marie was a dedicated member of Visions International Ministries where she served on the Usher Board, the Hospitality Committee, as a Sunday School teacher and she was the mother of the church.

Marie’s spirit will always be treasured by two daughters, Robin Jones of Kinston, North Carolina, Shana R. Watkins (Darrel) of Frisco, Texas; two sons, Robert Jones, Mario Rivas of Far Rockaway, New York; four sisters, Dorothy Ashburn (Charlie Sr.), Irene Matthews (Theodore), Lorraine Bynum (Larry), Celester Robinson (Andrew); brothers, Willie Jones, Roscoe Jones, Cleo Jones (Brenda); nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one uncle, Willie “Jake” Jones; other relatives and many friends.

On Saturday, June 17, her remains will rest in church for viewing by 10 a.m. The service celebrating her life will be at noon in First Baptist Church, 318 Hall St., with the Rev. Cory D. Benson delivering the eulogy; the Rev. D. Shawrod Riddick Jr. is the host pastor. The committal and benediction will be in Milneck Church Cemetery, 123 Milneck Road, Como, North Carolina

A traditional service with dignity will be conducted by Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home Inc., 224 S. Main St.
