FRANKLIN
Robert Robertson, a member of Troop 17 Boy Scouts of America, is working toward the Eagle Scout Rank. To complete his Eagle requirements, he chose to work with the Downtown Franklin Association in their downtown beautification efforts. Specifically, Robert chose to upgrade the downtown Franklin sidewalk planters.

Phase I of the project was to remove the crepe myrtle trees that had outgrown the planters and put in knockout roses. Phase II of the project is in the works. It will be painting half of the planters.  These two phases will complete Robert’s project.

Robert, son of Glenn and Deannie Robertson, attends Southampton High School. He will be a senior next school year.

To complete his Eagle requirements, T.J. Moore, also a member of Troop 17, also chose work on the downtown Franklin sidewalk planters. He cleaned and prepped all of the 43 planters, and painted half of them. T.J. completed his project in March, and has received his Eagle Scout Award. The Tidewater News previously reported on T.J.’s accomplishment.

Bryan Fenters is Scoutmaster for Troop 17.
