FRANKLIN — On June 4, 2017, Mrs. Violet Sumblin gained her heavenly wings and went home to be with the Lord.

She was born on June 10, 1924, to the late John and Louise Gray.
Violet was married to the late Richard Sumblin Sr. She was also preceded in death by her sons, Fred and Robert; daughter, Edna Sumblin; daughters-in-law, Louise and Francis Sumblin; and grandson, Larry Sumblin.
She is survived by one daughter, Violet Goodman (Chris) of Virginia Beach; sons, Richard (Rose), John, Earl, Dennis (Mona) and Edward (Carla); daughters-in-law, Earva and Paulette Sumblin, all of Franklin; and two sisters, Evelyn Jenkins of Courtland and Betty Council of Suffolk. She was also blessed with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends who are saddened by her passing.
The funeral will be on Friday, June 9, at noon, in Ebenezer Baptist Church, Ivor. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery, Franklin.
Viewing will be on Thursday after noon in Engram Funeral Home.
