To the Editor:
The battle lines are drawn on the proposal to build a new Southampton County Courthouse at a different location from the current historical Southampton County Courthouse.

On one side is the Southampton County Board of Supervisors and the Southampton County administration, who are proposing to build a new Southampton County Courthouse at a different location, at a cost of $28 million-plus.

On other side are the concerned citizens of Southampton County, who want to leave the current historical Southampton County Courthouse where it is, and to make the needed up grades to the existing Southampton County Courthouse at a reasonable cost.

The good news is that the citizens of Southampton County will decide .The proposal should be on the November ballot. Moving the County Courthouse must be approved by the Southampton County voters.

As a citizen and taxpayer of Southampton County I urge you to vote “No” on building a new Southampton County Courthouse!
