The media’s war on Trump

Which is worse, President Trump allegedly sharing a piece of classified intel with the Russian ambassador or insider bureaucrats leaking classified information to journalists, all hell-bent on unseating a president they just don’t like?

Let’s break down just how crazy these battles are between Trump versus the Deep state and the major political media.

“Deep Staters,” aka “the permanent government,” insider bureaucrats within various intelligence and other government agencies, are reportedly releasing confidential and classified information designed to substantially weaken the president as a handful of Democrats call for impeachment for as-yet-unknown high crimes and misdemeanors they hope he may have committed.

Even if you agree Trump is jerk, the leaks are felonies.

What if they did it to a President Sanders?

CNN, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CBS, the New York Times, and all of the papers in ink and online that republish those outlets have been reporting conjecture after conjecture about what President Trump “may” have said to the Russian ambassador about laptops, planes and a city from where this intelligence may have originated.

That’s the true scandal. While all of the outlets repeated the truth as first reported by the Washington Post that the president has legal authority to share such information with another country’s emissaries, the conjecture is that revealing the city from which the alleged intel may have originated might give Russia enough information to identify the agent involved.

Opinion writers at the New York Times and Washington Post are outraged, very concerned and even fearful that this maniac in the White House may have compromised the life of an ally agent in some unknown city.

The New York Times then cites two anonymous sources who confirm the danger Trump has created. One source reportedly works in the government and the other is retired. Both confirmed to the Times that the city in question is in Israel.

Think about this for a moment.

The New York Times says Trump is a threat to the nation because he may have mentioned a city from which a terror plot was revealed, so the Times names the country from which the intel was revealed to prove just how dangerous Trump is.

And this story is based on classified information leaked to the Times by two anonymous sources, one of whom currently works in a government agency.

If this outrageous hypocrisy is true, it’s a felony and Trump has every right to investigate and prosecute the sources of the leaks just as President Obama’s administration prosecuted the largest number of government leakers in the history of the U.S. Presidency.

The real problem here is the behavior of the major political media.

As legendary reporter and anchor Tom Brokaw recently put it, he was there during Watergate and this looks nothing like Watergate. Journalists in his day reported facts, not rumors and innuendo.

Add to this the lack of major media hyperventilating over President Obama’s administration revealing the existence of the Stuxnet virus designed to destabilize Iran’s nuclear computers.

Obama pardoned the general who leaked that info, much to the yawning due diligence of the press.

There was equal lack of media acrimony when the CIA’s top officer in Kabul was named on a list provided to news organizations of senior U.S. officials participating in President Obama’s surprise visit with U.S. troops in 2014.

This put his life in certain danger.

In 2016 the Post reported Obama was offering the Russians secret Syria intel.

More media yawning.

Of course, that was Obama, literally cheered by the Washington Post newsroom in a visit as heartily as they recently cheered the online popularity of their Trump-Russia story.

We need a few hundred more Tom Brokaws in the industry. Sadly, too many are acting like Keith Olbermann.

Olbermann, who made millions as the man who brought viewers and Rachel Maddow to MSNBC, now records video vignettes in what appears to be a basement calling for foreign spy agencies to “save the world” by releasing whatever secret intelligence they have on the American President.

True. He really does this.

It’s a product of GQ Magazine, now dressing the upwardly mobile Wall Street revolutionary for the #resistance.
