Southampton Track and Field brings home conference medals

The Southampton High School Track and Field team competed in the Conference 25 Track and Field Championship held at New Kent High School on May 17.
The participating schools were Southampton High School, Park View High School, New Kent High School, Colonial Heights High School, Poquoson High School and Warhill High School.
Southampton placed fourth overall in the girls standing and fifth overall for the boys. Southampton had several individual Conference 25 champions:
• Dasia Ricks: First place place – 100M Dash 12:78; and First place – 200M Dash 26:87
• Sheppard Mason: First place – 200M Dash 22.78
• Janas Saunders: First place – 300 Hurdles 41.37
• Boys 4x100M Relay (Tim Clark, Sheppard Mason, Tyriel Ruffin, Rondayl Smith): First place – 43.81
All of the runners listed above will compete at the Virginia High School League State Track & Field Championships held in Harrisonburg on June 2-3.
Other top performers at the Conference 25 Track & Field Championship are:
• Taylor Bradshaw: Second place – Shot Put
• Tiera Lee: fourth place – Shot Put’ and fourth place – Discus Throw
• Indiyah Stephenson: Third place – 400M Dash; Fourth place – 100M Dash; and Fourth place – 200M Dash
• Isabelle McGuire: Fifth place – 800M Run
• Haleigh Andrew: Sixth place – 800M Run
• Brianna Whitmore: Fifth place – 1600M Run and Fifth place – 3200M Run
Girls 4x800M Relay (Kaitlyn Whitehead, Amira Long, Haleigh Andrew, Isabelle McGuire): Second place
• Tyriel Ruffin: Fourth place – 100M Dash
• Donta Chisolm: Sixth place – 400M Dash
• Noah South: Third place – 3200M Run
• Cole Cobb: Sixth place – 3200M Run
• Tradel Ricks: Fourth place – Discus Throw
All of the individuals listed above will participate in the 3A East Regional Track and Field Championship held at Lakeland High School in Suffolk on Thursday, May 25.
