Traffic stop results in narcotics arrest

A traffic stop in the 1600 block of Armory Drive has led to a Murfreesboro man being charged with drug offenses, according to information provided by Capt. Tim Whitt, spokesman for the Franklin Police Department.

After approaching the stopped vehicle on Monday at 4:36 p.m., the officer detected the smell of marijuana emanating from the interior. A subsequent investigation and search revealed a quantity of crack cocaine, marijuana, scales and packaging material.

Steven Lemar Jones 30, of the 116 Hardwood Drive, was taken into custody and charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Jones was given a $5,000 bond and remanded to Western Tidewater Regional Jail.
