You CAN help prevent crime

The news on Friday about an anonymous caller reporting what appeared to be a burglary in progress is an excellent example of how being watchful in your community can help reduce crime.

As detailed by the Franklin police, the caller saw a man going into the back of a neighbor’s house.

The police arrived in time to get a suspect and carried him away. Reportedly, a search showed a forced entry and there had been evidence of an alleged burglary.

Certainly the homeowner must be grateful that a concerned neighbor made the call, otherwise valuable possessions might have been lost.

All that took was a phone call.

Because city police and county deputies cannot be everywhere, it’s up to each of us to be mindful and watchful and to take action. Wouldn’t you want someone to do that for you?
