WINDSOR — Bobby Wayne Owen passed away peacefully on April 17, 2017.

He is preceded in death by his father, Arbie Rudolph Owen, and mother, Lula Kate (McDuffie) Owen; brother, Doyle Aubry Owen; and sister, Sylvia Owen Thomas.

Bobby — or Wayne as he was called by many — was born in White Oak, North Carolina, on Oct. 10, 1937.

He attended Elizabethtown High School and graduated in 1956, and joined the Navy in that same year and retired in 1979 as a chief petty officer.

Bobby was also a graduate of Old Dominion University.

He was a member of Windsor Baptist Church in Windsor, Virginia.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 43 years, Donna Jean (Jones, Howard) Owen; a brother, Stacy Mac Owen and his wife, Judy; a daughter, Catherine Ann Brady and her husband, Paul; and four stepsons, James, John, Joel and Jeffrey Howard. Bobby has one grandchild, Owen Brady, 10 step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 24, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk.

The service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 25, in Windsor Baptist Church, 4 Church St., Windsor, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Dr. Jon Corson will be officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk.
