A blue Dodge Challenger sped across U.S. Route 58 in excess of 100 miles per hour on Friday morning.

According to Sgt. Sterling W. Johnson, spokesman for Virginia State Police Division 5, Area 34 in Franklin, at 8:37 a.m. VSP Sgt. John A. Brown attempted to stop the Challenger but the vehicle fled, resulting in a high-speed chase that ended in a three-vehicle crash on Route 35 at Powell’s Hill Road (Route 667) near Boykins.

State Police identified the driver of the Challenger as Kemp Marsallis Nichols of Durham, NC. His passenger was Miykael Lael Israel Faulcon, also of Durham.

The second vehicle involved in the crash was a delivery truck operated by Milton Sherriel Powell, who was uninjured. The third vehicle was a PT Cruiser operated by Linda Germaine Harvin of Germantown, MD. She was transported to Southampton Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.

Approximately $6,000 in cash was discovered and seized from the Challenger, along with a hand gun and a small amount of marijuana.

Nichols is now in VSP custody and has been charged with reckless driving and eluding police.
