WINDSOR
The Democratic Legislative Nominating Committee for the 64th House District has selected the primary method to determine the Democratic candidate who will run for the Virginia House of Delegates seat being vacated by incumbent Rick Morris.

Three candidates declared their candidacy for the race and the County Democratic Committee has verified petition signatures and submitted the Certification of Primary Candidates form to the Virginia Department of Elections by the deadline, which was on Tuesday, April 4. State-wide primary elections will be on Tuesday, June 13.

Candidates for the Democratic primary are:

• Jerry A. Cantrell, Suffolk resident, long-time educator and doordinator of Student Services for Central Texas College’s Atlantic Division serving the military in Norfolk;

• Rebecca S. Colaw, Suffolk resident, military veteran and owner of a law practice in that city; and

• John J. Wandling, Isle of Wight County resident, military veteran and IT consultant and professional sailor.

The deadline to update your address or register to vote is Monday, May 22. IOWCDC Chairman Debra Church would like to remind residents to check their voter registration for accuracy by that deadline in order to vote in the June 13 primary.

“If a registered voter has moved since the last election, you must update your address with the Virginia Department of Elections by May 22 to be able to vote June 13 in the precinct where you now live,” she said.  nformation on voter registration can be found at http://www.elections.virginia.gov/registration/how-to-register/index.html.

Additionally, photo identification is required in Virginia to vote.
