Three Rivers Bass Club begins new season with winners

WINTON, N.C.
The 2017 fishing season kicked off for the Three Rivers Bass Club on March 25 when Matt Holt of Ivor took first place and the big bass prize. Holt caught five bass with a total weight of 18.45 pounds, and his biggest bass weighed an impressive 7.12 pounds.

The bass club launched from Shoups Landing on the Chowan River.

In second place was the team of Larry Phelps and Bennie Plessinger with five bass weighing 13.52 pounds. The team of Adam Derby and Jared Bass took third place with five bass weighing 12.98 pounds, following in fourth place was the team of Greg Harmon and Jeremy Harmon with four bass weighing 10.68 pounds. Then fifth place went to the team of Frank Fullington and Travis Benson with four bass weighing 10.66 pounds.

The bass club will hold three public bass tournaments this year on April 23, May 13 and June 24.
