Notice of Workshop and Public Hearing

 

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 15.2-2204 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended that the Southampton County Planning Commission will hold a workshop to discuss a proposed utility scale solar energy generation ordinance on Thursday, April 13, 2017 in the Board Room of the Southampton County Office Center at 26022 Administration Center Drive in Courtland, Virginia at 6:00PM.

 

The Planning Commission will public hearings on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. in the Board Room of the Southampton County Office Center at 26022 Administration Center Drive in Courtland, Virginia to consider the following:

 

1. CUP 2017:01 – Application by Kyle Prendergast, Queenie Swamp Kennels LLC, owner, for a Conditional Use Permit to operate a commercial kennel under Sec. 18-37 (21) of the Southampton County Code. The property is located at 22092 Southampton Parkway, Courtland, and is known as Tax Parcel 73-20. The property contains approximately 3.25 acres and is in the Capron Voting and Magisterial Districts.

2. RZA 2017:01 – Application by Jonathan Bowen, owner, for a zoning map amendment from R-1, Residential to CA-2, Conditional Agricultural, for Tax Parcels 47A2-1-138A, 138B and 138E. The property is located at 18170 Fourth Street, as well as the southwest quadrant of the intersection of Fourth Street West (Rte. 1003) and Maple Avenue (Rte. 1001) in Sedley. The properties total approximately 4.2 acres. The property is in the Jerusalem Voting and Magisterial Districts.

3. Alley Vacation – Application for alley vacations by the following owners for the listed alley sections in Sedley:

a. Fifth Street West, between Tax Parcel 47A2-1-138B and 47A2-1-138E, approximately 202 linear feet. Owner Jonathan Bowen.

b. Walnut Avenue, between Tax Parcels 47A2-1-138B and 47A2-1-111, approximately 242 linear feet. Owners Jonathan Bowen and Dwayne Young, Jr.

c. Elmwood Avenue, between Tax Parcel 47A2-1-138A and 47A2-1-136A, 136B, and 136D, approximately 288 linear feet. Owners Jonathan Bowen, Laura Vassar, Robin Nelson, Mitz Oldham, and Susan Rice etals.

d. Sixth Street West, between Tax Parcels 47A2-1-138A and 47A210-1, 47A210-2, and 47A210-3 approximately 300 linear feet. Owners Jonathan Bowen and Linda Mitchell, Richard and Christian Jarratt, and Shawn Blythe and Angela Green.

e. Maple Avenue, between Tax Parcels 47A2-1-138A, 47A2-5-2A, and 47A2-1-138E, approximately 288 linear feet. Owners Jonathan Bowen and Brett Rutledge.

 

Documents are available in the Franklin Southampton Community Development office in Franklin City Hall and the Southampton County Administration office in Courtland.

 

Any persons desiring to speak in favor of or opposition to the above referenced application(s) are encouraged to appear and be heard at the aforementioned time and place. Any persons wishing to attend this hearing who may require auxiliary aids should contact Michael W.
