Four-hit day for Matthews leads Raiders past TA

Allison Matthews collected four hits in four at bats, as Southampton Academy defeated Tidewater Academy 13-8 on Friday.

Matthews singled in the first, doubled in the second, tripled in the fourth and sixth Innings.

Southampton Academy grabbed en early lead. They scored on a two RBI single by Matthews in the first inning. A single by Kara Beth Poole in the second inning, two errors in the second inning, and a double by Matthews in the second inning.

Tidewater Academy scored four runs in the fifth inning. Tidewater Academy’s big inning was driven by a couple of Southampton errors.

Kellie Ferguson (2-0) earned the win for Southampton Academy. She threw seven innings, giving up eight runs (two earned), five hits and struck out seven. Lauren Buhls took the loss

For Tidewater Academy. She tossed five innings, surrendering 12 runs, 10 hits and striking out five.

The Raiders had 10 hits in the game. Matthews, Kara Beth Poole and Kamryn Poole each collected multiple hits for Southampton Academy.
