Lady Bronco netters claim first win of season

FRANKLIN
On a cold Wednesday, the Franklin High School Lady Broncos tennis team won its first match of the 2017 season. Playing on the tennis courts at Franklin High School, the Lady Broncos defeated the Lady Eagles of Greensville High School, 5-4.

After easy single wins of the team’s Nos. 1 through 4 players, the Broncos were in need of one more win to clinch their first win. That came from the No. 2 doubles team of Jada Barnes and DeAnna Freeman with an 8-2 win over Madison Johnson and Karolina Allen.

The Lady Broncos are now 1-2 for the season.

Singles Matches played using an eight game pro set

(Franklin versus Greensville, respectively)

1. Erin Karmilovich won 8-1 against Deona Hancock.

2. Qwa’neshia Barnes won 8-5 against Jasmine Williams.

3. Jada Barnes won 8-3 against Madison Johnson.

4. DeAnna Freeman won 8-4 against Karolina Allen.

5. Azzure Boyd lost 4-8 against Breona Alston.

6. Sierra Newby lost 4-8 against Haley Ferguson.

Doubles matches played using an eight game pro set

1. Qwaneshia Barnes /Erin Karmilovich lost 4-8 against Deona Hancock/Jasmine Williams.

2. Jada Barnes/DeAnna Freeman won 8-2 against Madison Johnson/Karolina Allen.

3. Alexis Bradshaw/Geniyah Everette lost 1-8 against Breona Alston/Mattice King.
