On Wednesday morning, the Virginia Department of Transportation reopened all four travel lanes on U.S. Route 58 east between the Pretlow Street Bridge and the Suffolk city line at the Blackwater Bridge. The speed limit was also returned to 55 miles per hour.

Crews have completely removed the temporary crossover and barrier wall that were used while workers replaced the 66-inch pipe under U.S. Route 58 east, which was damaged during Hurricane Matthew and created a large sinkhole on the highway.
