Lady Dukes win over Lady Ponies, 11-0

CHINCOTEAGUE
The Windsor High School varsity softball team traveled to Conference 41 foe Chincoteague on Friday afternoon to start the 2017 season. The Lady Dukes jumped out early and coasted to an 11-0 win over the Lady Ponies to begin the season 1-0.

The game was a rematch of the 2016 Conference 41 Championship game with the outcome much the same.

The Lady Dukes were led by junior pitcher E.J. Bankson, who pitched lights out over six innings striking out eight Lady Ponies and only allowing one hit. The Lady Dukes’ bats came alive recording 13 hits over the course of the game. The Lady Duke’s powerful offense was lead by Sydney Carter who went 2-3 scoring 2 runs and Olivia Holmes who went 1-1 with 2 RBIs.

The Lady Dukes were scheduled to be in action again on Tuesday at home against Nansemond Suffolk Academy’s Lady Saints.

Game time was scheduled for 4:30.
