Lady Bronco netters lose opener in close match with Lady Dukes

The Franklin High School Lady Broncos tennis team lost its season opener 4-5 in a close match with the Lady Dukes of Windsor High School. The match was played at the Windsor High School tennis courts on Friday.

After the Lady Broncos No. 4 player Ayana Mabry injured her ankle during her match with Emma Wyatt, both teams had three wins each as they entered into the doubles play.

Franklin’s No. 1 doubles team of Qwaneshia Barnes and Erin Karmilovich claimed a win over TeQuila Williams and Sheena Virden, but the No. 3 team of Alexis Bradshaw and Geniyah Everette dropped its match 1-8 to Victoria Johnson andTori Tomlin. With that, the win of the match was on the racquets of the No. 2 doubles teams.

After being down 3-7, the Franklin team of Jada Barnes and DeAnna Freeman rallied back to tie the score at 7 all. But after many fierce rallies and aggressive net play by the Lady Broncos, the Windsor team of Skylar Prinaotta and Emma Wyatt fought back to take the match clincher with a score of 9 -7.
