CAPRON — Helen Francis Gillette, 86, passed away suddenly on March 18, 2017.
She was a member of Capron United Methodist Church where, through the years, she held numerous positions.
She found much joy in giving of her time and sharing her love.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, Cooper Pope Gillette; her parents, Nathan and Ruby Banty Francis; two sisters, Lizzie Spivey and Lucille Vann; and a brother, Nathan Francis Jr.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Theresa D. Gillette of Robersonville, North Carolina, and Sarah G. Gibbs of Courtland; sons, Cooper Pope Gillette Jr. (Carolyn) and William Francis Gillette (Cindy), both of Capron; nine grandchildren, Laura Bangor (Craig), Abigail Foy (Steve), Joseph Edwards (Georgana), Hollie Bobbitt (William), Emily Jarratt (Dustan), Matthew Gillette (Megan), Jacob Gillette (Brittany), David Gibbs (Elizabeth) and Jessica Williams (Wade); 13 great-grandchildren, Nash, Ella Page and Audrey Bangor, Jackson Foy, Cooper Edwards, Emerson, Colby and Brooklyn Bobbitt, Hudson Jarratt, Grace and Ben Gillette, Caroline Gibbs and Emaline Williams; and a sister-in-law, Clonie Francis.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, in Capron United Methodist Church with the Rev. Julie Larch and Rev. Jim Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Capron Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Helen’s home, 21847 Brandy Pond Road, Capron, and following the service at the Capron Community House.
The family suggests memorials be made to Capron UMC c/o Dolly Nicholson 21128 Popes Station Road, Capron VA 23829, or the American Heart Association.
