Grand larceny suspects in custody

FRANKLIN
Two Portsmouth men charged with grand larceny of merchandise are in custody following an incident at the Franklin Walmart on Sunday.

According to department spokesman, Capt. Tim Whitt, around 4:50 p.m., officers responded to the local story in reference to a suspected larceny. The suspects had left the store and entered a white Mitsubishi SUV when the police engaged the suspects in the parking lot. During the investigation the subjects gave false names. Their real identities were established and they were placed under arrest.

More than $1,000 worth of electronics from Walmart were recovered.

One of the suspects was wanted by Chesapeake police and had nine outstanding warrants for larceny of merchandise from the story. Both suspects were charged and remanded to Western Tidewater Regional Jail in Suffolk with no bond.

Anthony Cornell Bishop, 49, of 1457 Lake Forest Drive, Portsmouth, was charged with grand larceny, providing a false identity to police and nine outstanding warrants from Chesapeake for larcenies from Walmart

Kenyon Jermaine Vinson, 42, of 1220 Coltrane Drive, Portsmouth, was charged with providing a false identity to police.
