RICHMOND — James Henry Joyner III, 72, passed away suddenly on March 3, 2017.
He was born on Dec. 12, 1944, in Hartford, Connecticut.
Jim was a 1963 graduate of Southampton High School and a 1964 post-graduate of Randolph Macon Academy. He then went on to graduate from the National Business College in Roanoke, Virginia.
He attained the rank of Eagle Scout and served in the Virginia National Guard.
Jim was the former co-owner of Creery Custom Shirts, and was a lover of sports. He was gifted at the game of pool and was a member of the APA Pool League for over 20 years. He enjoyed spending his free time at his cottage on the Rappahannock River, and regularly attended Velocity Church.
Perhaps Jim’s greatest gift to this world was his devotion to and love of his family and friends. His infectious laugh and caring heart touched the lives of many, and he will long be remembered by those fortunate enough to know him.
In keeping with Jim’s loving and generous spirit, he gave the gift of life through organ donation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Henry Joyner Jr. and Eleanor Fisher Joyner of Courtland, Virginia; and his wife, Robin L. Joyner.
He is survived by his sisters, Grace Lynn Joyner Drake (Stewart) of Newsoms, Virginia; and Claire Joyner Helfert (Rick) of Richmond, Virginia; his brother, Moses B. “Mike” Joyner of Courtland; nieces, Sarah J.
